So I decided to create Pages on Google Plus for my favorite programming languages.

Add to circles

These are in accordance with Google’s Policies http://www.google.com/intl/en/+/policy/pagesterm.html Continue reading “Creating Pages on Google Plus for some languages”
Check out the new Google Plus Hangout with Extras
http://www.google.com/support/plus/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1289346&ctx=go&hl=en
Hangouts with Extras is a simple and easy way to connect and collaborate with your colleagues in real time. With Hangouts with Extras you can:
Connect with multiple people simultaneously: With group video chat and web conferencing you can connect with multiple people around the world at the same time.
Share your screen: Ever look at something that you couldn’t quite put into words? Well, with screen sharing you give other people the ability to view what’s on your computer screen. You can choose an open window screen on your computer and give everyone in your meeting the ability to look at it. Learn More
Collaborate in real time: You can meet, share notes, and even work on documents at the same time.Learn More
For enterprises- you can throw out your video conferencing software and collaboration tools and get a new mobile app for free.
Small drawbacks in the Google Plus- lack of integration with Youtube (it is one way integration from youtube to hangouts but not the other way round fixed), lack of a whiteboard for sketches- (like again a shortcut to a google doc 🙂 ) or even bundling the record from your web cam to record your desktop.
Ultimately enterprises want to know how they can use this stuff for e-learning modules or webcasts.
—————–END—————————-
Alternative uses-
Check out NY Met Museum with Friends (thanks to Google Art Project)
Play Linkin Park Playlist (100 videos) with Friends btw. great graphic redesign of Youtube icons!! Now if we could only convince the Google Docs to get more integrated with Open Office or LibreOffice templates
or even set up a DJ table session using Google Hangouts. with Extras of course.
But as it stands it may be good to go for webcasts !!
I was just blown away by the price and functionality of the Kindle, including the browser and in built Wi-Fi- ( though the 40$ leather bag was a bit sneaky as an accessory, I mean seriously, dude)
And unlike some media technology companies (like Hulu,Spotify , even some Youtube channels)
who offer products to Asia only after a delayed lag, it is just as easy to order Kindle sitting from India.
Thank you Amazon!
and lastly some art to help prod those people who offer beta sites for limited countries even in this age.

Social Gaming is slightly different from arcade gaming, and the heavy duty PSP3, XBox, Wii world of gaming. Some observations on my research ( 😉 ) on social gaming across internet is as follows-
There are mostly 3 types of social games-
1) Quest- Build a town/area/farm to earn in game money or points
2) Fight- fight other people /players /pigs earn in game money or points
3) Puzzle- Stack up, make three of a kind, etc
Most successful social games are a crossover between the above three kinds of social games (so build and fight, or fight and puzzle etc)
In addition most social games have some in game incentives that are peculiar to social networks only. In game incentives are mostly in game cash to build, energy to fight others, or shortcuts in puzzle games. These social gaming incentives are-
1) Some incentive to log in daily/regularly/visit game site more often
2) Some incentive to invite other players on the social network
A characteristic of this domain is blatant me-too, copying and ripping creative ideas (but not the creative itself) from other social games. In general the successful game which is the early leader gets most of the players but other game studios can and do build up substantial long tail network of players by copying games. Thus there are a huge variety of games.
However there are massive hits like Farmville and Angry Birds, that prove that a single social game well executed can be very valuable and profitable to both itself as well as the primary social network hosting it.
Accordingly the leading game studios are Zynga, Electronic Arts and (yes) Microsoft while Google has been mostly a investor in these.
A good website for studying data about social games is http://www.appdata.com/ while a sister website for studying developments is http://www.insidesocialgames.com/
As you can see below Appdata is a formidable data gatherer here (though I find the top App – Static HTML as both puzzling and a sign of un corrected automated data gathering),
but I expect more competition in this very lucrative segment.
I am not an Apple fanboy. In fact I dont use a Mac (because Linux works well for me at much cheaper rates)
I am going to miss Steve Jobs like I miss …… still.
1) The Original Pirate – I liked Steve Jobs ever since I saw Pirates of Silicon Valley, I wanted to be like the Jobs who created jobs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirates_of_Silicon_Valley
Artists steal. Yeah baby!
2) Music -Itunes Improbably the man who came up with the idea of music @ 99 cents helped more artists earn money in the era of Napster. Music piracy is not dead, but at 99 cents you CAN afford the songs
3) Aesthetics- and Design- as competitive barriers. It was all about the interface. People care about interfaces. Shoody software wont sell.
4) Portable Music- yes I once wrote a poem on my first Ipod. http://www.decisionstats.com/ode-to-an-ipod/ No , it doesnot rank as the top ten poems on Ipod in SERP
Walkman ‘s evolution was the Ipod – and it was everywhere.
5) Big Phones can be cool too- I loved my IPhone and so did everyone. But thats because making cool phones before that was all about making the tiniest thinnest phone. Using Videochat on Iphone and webs surfing were way much cooler than anything before or since.
6) Apps for Money for Geeks. Yes the Apps marketplace was more enriching to the geek universe than all open source put together.
7) Turtleneck Steve- You know when Steve Jobs was about to make a presentation because one week before and one week later the whole tech media behaved like either a fanboy or we are too cool to be an Apple fanboy but we will report it still. The man who wrote no code sold more technology than everyone else using just a turtleneck and presentations.
8) Pixar toons- Yes Pixar toons made sure cartoons were pieces of art and not just funny stuff anymore. This one makes me choke up
9) Kicking Microsoft butt- Who else but Steve can borrow money from MS and then beat it in every product it wanted to.
10) Not being evil. Steve Jobs made more money for more geeks than anyone. and he made it look good! The original DONT BE EVIL guy who never needed to say it aloud
Take a bow Steve Jobs (or touch the first Apple product that comes to your hand after reading this!)
The article was first written on Aug 25,2011 on Steve Jobs resignation news.It has been updated to note his departing from this planet as of yesterday.
