Install wxPython in Ubuntu

wxPython is a GUI toolkit for the Python programming language. It allows Python programmers to create programs with a robust, highly functional graphical user interface, simply and easily. It is implemented as a Python extension module (native code) that wraps the popular wxWidgets cross platform GUI library, which is written in C++.

At a terminal, enter “lsb_release -a” to print what version of Ubuntu you have.

$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS
Release: 12.04
Codename: precise

$ lsb_release -sc
precise

Add key
sudo apt-key adv --fetch-keys http://repos.codelite.org/CodeLite.asc

  • Then add the source:

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

deb http://repos.codelite.org/wx3.0.2/ubuntu/   precise  universe 

sudo apt-get update

  • Now install wxPython

sudo apt-get install python-wxgtk2.8 python-wxtools wx2.8-i18n

 

sudo apt-get install python-wxgtk2.8 python-wxtools wx2.8-i18n libwxgtk2.8-dev libgtk2.0-dev
